‘I’m sorry but it was a key-piece of last season collection and it’s run out’.  Is there anything more useless than this sentence in selling clothes?

Let’s go through an example.

In Frankfurt.

‘Can I help you?’

‘I’d like to try that beautiful evening dress in that poster’ – answered the customer, pointing at the biggest poster in the shop.

‘I’m sorry but it was a key-piece of last season collection and it’s run out’.

Why having an old poster in the shop? And why not proposing to the customer to have a look at the new collection?
